The master at work...
Ray Harryhausen, the master of stop-motion photography, did one of his best here. The creature movements are so fluid they seem real, particularly the creature's tail in many shots. The creature is called a 'Ymir' and for years I pronounced it 'Yahmeer.' I was corrected by Harryhausen when I met him. It is pronounced 'Ee-meer.' I asked him how he was able to do such incredible fluid stop-motion back then, considering the state of technology, and he responded saying, 'Oh, We had our secrets, even then!' Still incredible to watch and far superior to the CG's they generate today for realism - they may move a little better but they don't have the depth and reality of stop-motion model photography. Bless you, Ray for all your work!

FLASH!
The first rocket to Venus (which is like freakinâ huge) crashes into the Meditteranian sea! The reporters in the press conference are sharp, asking âVenus? The Planet?â Unfortunately, the space creature they kidnapped from the planet escapes! But they recapture it (not before a fight, with, of all things, an African Elephant). But it escapes again to cause havoc on the Greek Ruins! (interesting..)
Great fun here, love this trailer, which features the truly awesome monster designed by Harry Harryhuasen and some mighty clever split screen work. I bet the kids had a blast.

Great Movie; Great Trailer
I can't, admittedly, write an unbiased review of this; I'm a huge Harryhausen fan. The effects are really amazing, and this trailer features a lot of them. The trailer itself does a good job -- it's very exciting and really got me interested in seeing the movie (again). There wasn't any obnoxious narrative, and it was edited together very nicely. The print itself is also in wonderful condition, with nice picture quality and clean sound. Definitely worth a look, five stars.
